What are the side effects of Amlodipine Besylate Tablet?
In 8.5% of dogs, gingival hyperplasia (a condition where gum overgrowth occurs, which can cause periodontal infection and bacterial growth) has been reported. Typically, this condition resolves within 6 months of discontinuing treatment with this medication. In rare cases, adverse reactions have included weight loss, increased heart rate, dropping levels of blood potassium, and elevated renal blood parameters.
What special precautions are there?
In the event of an overdose, vomiting could help. Overdosing causes severe hypotension and bradycardia. While on this medication, heart muscle impulse generation and conduction velocity are slowed. Use with care if the animal has heart failure or is in cardiac shock. Always follow the medication's instructions to the letter. Do not use this drug if the animal is breeding, pregnant, breastfeeding, or has liver disease. Keep out of the reach of children.
