Product Description
High blood pressure, heart failure, and kidney disease can all be treated with Benazepril (Lotensin) Hydrochloride Tablets. It's a highly successful medication for both dogs and cats that can be used in conjunction with thiazide diuretics or on its own.
Who is Benazepril Hydrochloride Tablet for?
Dogs and cats.
Why use Benazepril Hydrochloride Tablet?
This drug operates in three different ways. It decreases blood pressure first, then reduces fluid retention, and eventually dilates the veins.
How does Benazepril Hydrochloride Tablet work?
This medication prevents the body from converting the blood molecule angiotensin I. As a result of this avoidance, fluid and salt retention are reduced.
Manufacturer:
Solco, Amneal or other generic brand
Active Ingredients(s):
benazepril
How is Benazepril Hydrochloride Tablet sold?
5 mg extra small tablet, 5 mg tablet, or 10 mg tablet
What are the side effects of Benazepril Hydrochloride Tablet?
Changes in urination (a sign of renal failure), increased thirst (another sign of kidney dysfunction), low blood pressure, diarrhea, vomiting, and inappetence are all possible reactions. If you observe any indications of a severe allergic reaction, stop using this product immediately and seek emergency veterinary help. Hives, swollen tongue, swollen cheeks, swollen lips, and problems breathing are all symptoms. Notify your veterinarian if your pet develops any of these or other negative effects.
What special precautions are there?
If the animal is nursing, use caution when administering the medication. If the animal is pregnant, do not feed it or only offer it in an emergency. If the animal has an acute kidney damage or is really ill, use extreme caution. Apply with care if the animal has low sodium, low blood pressure, cardiovascular illness, lupus, or blood cell abnormalities. Never provide an ACE inhibitor to an animal who is allergic to them. Keep out of the reach of children.
What to do if overdose?
If overdose occurs, please contact your local pet hospital or emergency pet clinic immediately.
How can I store Benazepril Hydrochloride Tablet?
Keep product stored in a dry and cool environment.
Helpful Tips:
Throughout treatment, your veterinarian should closely monitor blood electrolytes, kidney values, and urinalysis. Checkup is recommended within 2 weeks of treatment initiation. If treatment is indicated for the purpose of high blood pressure, ensure that your veterinarian monitors blood levels closely. Always keep an eye on your pet at home. If a dose is accidentally missed, never administer two doses at once. Administer the skipped dose as soon as possible, unless it is almost time for the next dose - in which case, the missed dose should be skipped altogether.
