Any dog on NSAIDs should be monitored on a regular basis. After medication withdrawal and competent veterinary care, the majority of patients who have had an unfavorable response recover. If you suspect a medication sensitivity, stop administering Rimadyl and visit your veterinarian right away. Severe responses might occur, and in rare cases, death can result. Before initiating therapy with an NSAID like Carprofen, dogs should be examined and their medical history reviewed. During and before administration, periodic hematological and serum biochemical baseline data testing should be considered.
Approximately 2 hours before surgery, give to control postoperative discomfort. You can split the dose in half and take 1mg per pound twice per day, or give the entire amount once per day. For dogs, the recommended oral dose is 2mg per pound each day. Based on the animal's response, provide the lowest effective dose for the shortest feasible time. Administer this product according to your veterinarian's instructions.
