GastroGard Oral Paste is a stomach ulcer treatment and prevention product. This orally delivered drug, omeprazole, is used every day (once per day for 4 weeks). For each 1,250 pounds of weight, one tube is required.

What special precautions are there?
Do not use in horses slated for food slaughter. Only use in healthy foals and horses. Keep out of the reach of children. Not proven safe for use in lactating or pregnant mares.

How can I store GastroGard for Horses?
Temperatures should be kept between 20 and 25 degrees Celsius (68 and 77 degrees Fahrenheit). Do not allow the product to become frozen. Excursions are permitted between 15 and 30 degrees Celsius (59 and 86 degrees Fahrenheit).
Before initiating therapy with this drug, a certified veterinarian should conduct a gastroscopy to appropriately identify a stomach ulcer.
The cap should be changed after each use. Observe the treated animal for a short period of time to ensure that no portion of the medication is rejected or lost. Re-dose if any is lost. If the syringe is not empty after dosage, it can be used for further doses until it is. Make sure you finish the entire dosage. Remove the tip cover from the syringe after ensuring there is no food in the horse's mouth. Place the syringe between the teeth of the patient's mouth. Depress the plunger until you reach the knurled rings, which will halt you. Once a day, place the dose on the back of the tongue or deep into the cheek pouch for up to 28 days. The plunger should be positioned at the weight marker that corresponds to half of your horse's weight in pounds to provide a dosage to prevent ulcer recurrence. To give the correct treatment dose of GastroGard Paste, set the syringe plunger to the suitable weight marking depending on your horse's weight in pounds. Every weight indication on the syringe plunger distributes 500 pounds of medicine to prevent stomach ulcer recurrence. Every weight indication on the syringe's plunger provides 250 pounds of medicine to treat stomach ulcers. Use on horses and foals as young as four weeks old. Omeprazole is included in 37.5 percent of GastroGard Paste. It comes in a handy, adjustable-dose syringe. 2.28 grams of omeprazole are included in each syringe. The syringe comes in boxes of 14, 28, or 72 units and is calibrated based on the animal's body weight.
