What are the side effects of Hydrochlorothiazide Tablet?
Hydrochlorothiazide can cause anemia or other blood problems in certain individuals. Seek immediate veterinarian care if you see any indications of a response like this. Excessive thirst, weakness, passing out (collapse), no urine, fast pulse, and pale gums are all signs of severe, significant adverse effects. If you are worried about any of your pet's symptoms, contact your veterinarian. An increase in urine is a common but minor adverse effect. In certain animals, the increased desire to urinate might create restlessness. Ensure that the animal can use the bathroom as often as needed, especially when the dosage is raised or the medicine is first introduced. Vomiting or diarrhea are other possible side effects. These symptoms are not cause for worry unless they are persistent, worsening, or severe.
What special precautions are there?
Use caution in administering to animals with diarrhea or those who are vomiting. Weigh potential benefits vs. risks with your veterinarian prior to use. An allergic reaction is possible in animals with known allergies to sulfa drugs. Administer cautiously to animals with blood salt, blood sugar, or body water imbalances, or to those with severe liver or kidney disease. Keep away from animals and children.
Hydrochlorothiazide overdose can be dangerous, as symptoms can include seizures, coma, electrolyte (salt) imbalance, low blood pressure, or dehydration.
