Product Description
SETTLE for Horses aids in treating equine endometritis associated with infection of Streptococcus zooepidemicus. This mycobacterium cell wall fraction immunostimulant comes in a vial of 1.5mL. This product cannot be shipped to Minnesota.
Who is SETTLE Equine for?
Horses
Why use SETTLE Equine?
SETTLE is useful in treating equine endometritis associated with Streptococcus zooepidemicus. It is a potent stand-alone treatment, but can also be integrated effectively with standard treatment plans involving uterine lavage and antibiotics.
How does SETTLE Equine work?
SETTLE works to enhance the natural humoral immune response of the animal. It activates macrophages and stimulates polymorphonuclear leukocyte (PMN) cloning. Activated phagocytic cells then stimulate a cytokine cascade, resulting in bacterial destruction. This product is active against Streptococcus zooepidemicus.
Manufacturer:
Bioniche Animal Health USA, Inc.
How is SETTLE Equine sold?
Sold as individual 1.5 ml dose vials
What are the side effects of SETTLE Equine?
For 1 to 2 days after intravenous injections, effects such as decreased appetite, drowsiness, or mild fever may occur. These responses are to be expected due to IL-1 release. Elevated body temperatures work to enhance immune function because they stimulate the activity of leukocytes. Therefore, fever is not considered an adverse reaction.
What special precautions are there?
Interleukin-1 (IL-1) production can be reduced with cortisone. Mares receiving corticosteroid or ACTH treatment might not respond to SETTLE properly.
What to do if overdose?
In case of overdose, contact your nearest veternarian or pet hospital.
How can I store SETTLE Equine?
Store between 35°-45° F (2°-7° C). Do not freeze.
Helpful Tips:
Best times to use SETTLE: The day after foaling in an effort to increase foal heat conception, facilitate earlier breeding in late season mares, and ensure earlier uterine health Right before shipping mares for breeding with expensive stallions At artificial insemination or natural breeding time When poor involution or uterine inflammation are diagnosed At first natural heat or the day after foaling for mares with poor conformation of the reproductive tract When a retained placenta is removed, and/or at first heat in mares with past delayed expulsion or retained placenta At first sign of estrus or the day after foaling in mares recognized as difficult to breed or mares susceptible to endometriosis Alongside systemic or local antibiotics When the opportunity for endometritis and uterine infection are at their highest, when waiting for culture and sensitivity test results and upon uterine infection diagnosis
Overview
This product is incredibly effective when delivered via intrauterine or intravenous administration. For intrauterine instillation, use careful aseptic technique to administer a dose of 1.5mL using a sterile catheter. For intravenous injection, use careful aseptic technique to administer a dose of 1.5mL during early estrus into the jugular vein. Repeat treatment at subsequent induced or natural estrus. SETTLE should be diluted (in 1.5mL doses) in semen extender, water for injection, normal saline, or sterile lactated ringers to offer an approximate volume of 25mL to 50mL.
