Who is Legend 10mg/ml 4ml Vial for?
Horses
Why use Legend 10mg/ml 4ml Vial?
Legend alleviates joint disease symptoms, decreases joint inflammation, and replenishes synovial joint fluid.
How does Legend 10mg/ml 4ml Vial work?
Legend contains sodium hyaluronate. Long chains of hyaluronate molecules create a filler network throughout the body. These are strewn around in normal cellular fluid. When injected into the joint pouch, hyaluronate sodium injections are believed to play a role in the healing of inflamed synovium. The synovial fluid, which is responsible for joint lubrication, is restored. It also adds to the viscoelastic qualities of regular joint fluid.

What special precautions are there?

Never provide an intra-articular injection to skin that has been exposed to a lot of counterirritant or scurf, or that has been recently fired or blistered. A radiographic examination should be performed on patients with acute laminitis to confirm that there are no significant joint fractures. This product has not been demonstrated or is not known to be safe for use in breeding animals. Keep out of the reach of children.

The synovial fluid contains significant quantities of hyaluronate. It is also found in the human body. This product includes hyaluronate, which is supposed to help control joint cells that cause inflammation. Hyaluronate begins to help in the repair of the joint lining and works to improve joint fluid thickness after injection. By cushioning and lubricating the joints, joint fluid preserves the joint lining.
After opening, any empty vials and unused vial contents should be thrown away. Allow for stall rest after treatment, then gradually return the horse to normal exercise. Use careful aseptic procedure while injecting intravenously, and inject gently into the jugular vein. Swelling may develop for a short period of time (24 to 48 hours) as a result of needle movement inside the joint area. Apply intra-articularly using careful aseptic approach, providing thorough animal restraint and disinfection. Before injecting, aseptically remove any extra joint fluid. Make sure the needle tip doesn't damage the cartilage's surface. This colorless, transparent solution is pyrogen-free, preservative-free, sterile, and has a low viscosity. 4mL intravenously or 2mL intra-articularly in the carpus or fetlock is the average suggested dose for horses. Re-treat once a week for a total of three times.
